Centralized Food Program

The impacts of Toronto’s ongoing homeless emergency have been compounded by the lingering effects of the pandemic and the current economic crisis - skyrocketing costs of living and the worst inflation Canada has experienced in more than 30 years. This perfect storm is forcing people into impossible situations; among low-income Torontonians, food insecurity often presents as a debilitating and permanent emergency.

Our newly opened commercial kitchen (at one of our supportive housing sites) will serve as the hub of our Centralized Food Program (CFP). Your donation will provide 3 possible styles of nutritious meals to our most vulnerable residents:

(1) Meals at Home: individualized meals prepared and delivered to our most vulnerable, supportively housed population.

(2) Community Meals: communally served (depending on COVID) meals at Homes First supportive housing locations.

(3) Cultural and Dietary Accommodation Meals: casserole-style dishes of dietary and religious-specific foods prepared and delivered to our shelters.
